Selsey care home could get 21 bedroom extension

Plans to expand a Grade II listed Selsey care home have been submitted to Chichester District Council.

The application seeks permission to add a two-storey extension to The Bill Care Home, in Grafton Road.

In a design statement to the council, Cowan Architects said a 1930s bungalow on the site – currently used as staff accommodation – a storage annex and two greenhouses would have to be demolished to make way for the extension.

Once complete, the extension would provide another 21 bedrooms.

The second phase of the work would see the refurbishment and reconfiguration of a 1990s extension, changing the layout and making some of the bedrooms larger, to meet current standards.

This would result in the loss of seven rooms.
