Council’s housing blueprint open for public’s comments

The six week period of representation has started on Horsham District Council’s Horsham District Planning Framework Proposed Submission after it was approved late last month.

All the comments, together with a summary of the main issues raised, will be given to the Secretary of State alongside the plan and relevant supporting evidence.

The planning inspector will then test the soundness of the plan during a series of public examination hearings later this year.

Claire Vickers, HDC’s cabinet member for living and working communities, said: “I want to thank everyone for the comments that were expressed as part of the consultation period back in 2013.

“This new period of representation gives members of the public a chance to express any last views to the planning inspector on how the plan can be improved or amended.”

Representations can be made either by visiting the council’s website emailed to [email protected] or by post to the Strategic Planning Team at Horsham District Council, Park North, North Street, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 1RL.

The plan allocates 13,000 homes for the district up to 2031 including around 500 in Southwater and 1,500 across the district through the neighbourhood plan process, as well as many already granted planning permission.

The council also hopes a new business park, proposed to be built as part of the North Horsham development, will contribute to the creation of up to 9,000 jobs in the district in the next 20 years.
