An application is due to be discussed by Horsham District Council’s planning committee north on Tuesday (November 3).

The existing barns within the application area are to be relocated into a field to the east and are subject to a separate planning application.

The proposal also includes works to the highway on Lyons Road, including widening the existing access road to the site, a wider two-way carriageway and a new footpath from Lyons Road into the site.

The grassed verge and pathway on the south side of Lyons Road would be removed.

The layout of the site includes a central green space with 35 per cent affordable housing proposed, equating to eight units.

A total of 60 letters of objection from 24 separate addresses objecting to the application have been received by the council.

They raised concerns ranging from overdevelopment to impact on the wildlife and landscape, increased noise and traffic and the loss of trees and hedgerows.

Slinfold Parish Council has not objected, but raised issues around the visual impact of the new access arrangements, especially as this area is a gateway to the village.

ccording to council planning officers: “The proposal would not amount to an adverse impact on existing residents’ amenity. The detailed design stage will confirm the layout and habitable room placement of the dwellings in relation to their siting to the nearest existing residential neighbours.”
