Developer working with county council over Broadbridge Heath crossing

Countryside Properties has started work on the pegasus crossing and hope to complete it within three to four weeks.

It was responding to criticism by Horsham district councillors late last month that it had prioritised work on the new link road and roundabout near Newbridge Nurseries over the crossing.

Andrew Carrington, strategic land director, said: “Countryside Properties has worked in partnership with West Sussex County Council to co-ordinate the timing of the construction works so as to minimise disruption to the local highway network, particularly during the holiday period.

“Countryside Properties was required to stagger the works to construct the pegasus crossing on the A264 and the entrance roundabout to Wickhurst Green.

“The entrance roundabout has been completed first as consent was granted by West Sussex County Council in January 2013, while consent for the pegasus crossing was only granted in August 2013.

“Works started last week to construct the crossing immediately after we received authority to go out onto the highway. Works will be complete within the next three to four weeks however the crossing will not be operational until such time as the council consider it safe to do so.”
