Farthings Hill development to go ahead despite traffic concerns

Plans for 27 homes at The Firs, Farthings Hill, Horsham were given the go-ahead tonight (Tuesday May 14) despite councillors having concerns about increased traffic there.

Members of the Horsham District Council development control committee north said, although they shared residents’ worries about road safety and potential gridlock at busy times, West Sussex County Council Highways officers had said “there would be no principle highway safety or capacity objection to this proposal”.

The plans submitted by Crest Nicholson South include 21 houses and five flats comprising of 11 affordable and 16 privately owned.

Residents of the road, just off the A24 junction at Horsham, were disappointed councillors seemed to be more interested in whether it would lose a case at appeal than represent the people who elected them.
