Another empty shop on an Eastbourne road could be demolished to make way for a block of 12 flats.

Part of the parade of shops in Langney Road – close to the junction with Seaside – has already been knocked down and now Aspiration Homes, an Eastbourne council development company, wants to demolish another empty building, clear the site and redevelop it.

In a design and access statement submitted with a planning application, a spokesperson for Aspiration Homes described the brownfield site as ‘dilapidated with several of the units in a state of ruin for years.

The spokesperson said, “The remaining unit, 183 Langney Rd, formerly the G Zone store, is vacant and soon to be demolished, being of unsound construction.

“The proposal seeks to redevelop this brownfield site and provide eight one bedroom and four two bedroom apartments to offer much needed accommodation for the area.”

The flats would be over four storeys with no parking provision for occupants.
