Grant windfall helps Arun’s future plans

PARISHES across Arun will get the chance to test radical new planning powers to shape the future of their area, after the district council secured an extra £180,000 funding.

Arun District Council has received notification from the Department for Communities and Local Government that grant funding of up to £180,000 has been made available to a further 13 parishes to help towards the cost of delivering Neighbourhood Development Plans.

Parishes in Littlehampton, Rustington, East Preston, Yapton and Barnham are among those set to benefit from the grant, with Angmering and Arundel having already received their allocations last year.

Councillor Ricky Bower, Arun’s cabinet member for planning, welcomed news of the additional funding.

He said: “We need to help local people become more involved in shaping the services that are delivered in their area.”
