Have the Lib Dems made a U-turn on funding for the Beehive?

Council leader Eggleston states that the council need to have a ‘grown up conversation’ with the people of Burgess Hill about the funding of the Beehive.

But in practice what does this mean? We have previously voted against raising the precept to help pay for the Beehive, which at the time was supported by the Liberal Democrats. It seems the Lib Dems are taking their national policy of ignoring the verdict of the people and delivering it to the people of Burgess Hill in terms of a higher precept which they previously opposed when it was put to residents and were happy when it was rejected! It’s funny how we got a lot of leaflets from the Lib Dems last year and not one of them stated that they would raise the precept to pay for the Beehive. We were told that New River and MSDC would be forced to stump up the money. How times change….
