On Thursday June 11, West Sussex County Council will begin a consultation on the proposal for new parking restrictions in Natts Lane and Silver Lane.

This follows the introduction of a residents’ parking scheme in November 2014.

“The scheme has already had a major impact in reducing the problems caused by all day commuter parking around the railway station and there has been a large amount of positive feedback from residents,” said John O’Brien, West Sussex County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport.

“However, as expected, there has also been a marked increase in pressure on adjacent roads not included in the scheme. We think these proposals will help to alleviate these pressures, but we want to hear if local residents agree.”

The proposals include lengths of prohibition of waiting at all times (double yellow lines) on sections of both sides of Natts Lane, at the junction of Silver Lane with Clive Way and, at the junction of Silver Lane with Willow Drive, and a length of single yellow line prohibiting waiting between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday on the eastern side of Silver Lane.

From June 11, the public will have a three week period to make representations of support or objection to the proposed waiting restrictions.
