Mr Lea is running as an independent under the new umbrella support party for independents called The Democratic Network.

He feels the performance of the main Westminster parties has progressively worsened and are not accountable to the public, with a ‘desperate need’ for independent councillors.

Mr Lea said “These will be people who work for the interests of the people, and will not be influenced from above by the interests and diktats of large national parties, themselves seemingly beholden to unaccountable supranational organisations like the World Health Organisation and World Economic Forum and their backers.

“They will personally know the struggles that local businesses, schools, hospitals and other organisations have had due to the lockdown restrictions. They will be much better placed to do all they can to support and save local businesses, businesses that are at the heart of local communities.”

Mr Lea’s key messages are about the need to return to normal, regain essential freedoms and expect a higher degree of accountability from elected representatives.

He said the success of his firm has been achieved by providing a great service for clients and creating an enjoyable place to work and if elected would bring the same attitude and culture to the county councillor role.

He grew up in the area and went to Great Walstead School. After living in Madrid, London, Dubai and elsewhere he moved back to Haywards Heath in 2015.
