The document published by Horsham District Council reads: “The road network in the district is generally good, with the A24 as the main north –south route and the A272 the main east-west link. The A264 connects Horsham to Crawley and onwards to the A23 / M23 and the wider motorway network.”

According to the report 63.8 per cent of the district’s employed residents commute to work by car.

The sustainability ability appraisal is open for consultation along with HDC’s draft housing plan on its consultation portal. Residents have eight weeks to share their thoughts on the plan, which will lay out where and how many houses are built over the next 20 years.

Last month the plan was approved for consultation, identifying strategic sites at North Horsham, Southwater and Billingshurst.

A new business park and 2,500 homes would be built north of the A264, with around 500 homes in both of the two villages.
