Stephen Lloyd, former MP for Eastbourne and Willingdon, has how started a petition demanding the money be spent instead on dualling the A27 between Eastbourne and Lewes.

He said: “In Eastbourne we are very clear what we want and that’s a dual carriageway on the A27 between us and Lewes.

“So let’s put pressure on the Tory government immediately to re-allocate that money to building our dual carriageway.

“We have waited far to long for a decent road. And now the money is suddenly available the government has no excuse not to proceed.”

“You can sign my petition at Change.org.
