Arun District Council owns and operates 22 pay and display car parks across its three main towns.

Charges were last increased in the town centre car parks in 2016 and in the seasonal car parks in 2018.

After a review it is proposing to increase charges again, affecting Littlehampton car parks at Manor House, Surrey Street, St Martins, Anchor Springs, West Green, East Green, Sea Road, The Wall, West Beach, and Banjo Road.

If approved by cabinet members on Monday (September 21) the proposed changes would be put out for consultation.

According to an officers’ report: “The benchmarking exercise shows the parking charges in the Arun District Council car parks are generally cheaper when compared with the parking charges in other local authorities in West Sussex. With the level of the proposed charges it would remain the case that ADC charges would compare favourably for those using ADC car parks.”

The council also operates a two-hour free disc parking scheme in the St Martins, Anchor Springs and Manor House car parks, which is funded by the district, town council and traders.
