During the past five years demand for places at Tanbridge House has increased dramatically - alongside the school’s soaring reputation. At its last Ofsted it achieved the highest ranking of all as ‘outstanding’.

Yesterday, the school revealed ‘significant plans’ to enable it to manage the demand for places.

With the support of its Governing Body and West Sussex County Council, significant funding has been formalised in order to provide longer term solutions for the ongoing demand for places.

Tanbridge House, in Guildford Road, Horsham, will be able to accommodate 300 students in every year group. By September 2014, £500,000 will have been invested in the school’s infrastructure and staffing. This investment will act as a forerunner for an overall project that will see £5.75 million invested by September 2016.

Head teacher Jules White said: “I am delighted that our school remains so popular and this is a testament to the hard work of all of my colleagues and the students here at Tanbridge House. It is vital that our high standards are maintained and further investment into buildings, IT and staffing will allow us to move from strength to strength. We wish to remain at the heart of our local community.”

Jeremy Hunt, Deputy Cabinet Member for Children – Start of Life, from West Sussex County Council commented further: “The investment in Tanbridge House is in response to the 2,000 houses being built at Broadbridge Heath and to the south of the Tanbridge House School.

“Significant additional growth has taken place in primary schools in recent years and nearly 6,000 additional places have already been, or will be, added to primary schools across the county. In some areas the growth has moved on to secondary schools and Tanbridge House is an early example of the expansion anticipated to follow in the county’s secondary schools.”
