Crawley Borough Council have set up a panel to look at the idea, and what facilities could be included if a ‘passport to leisure’ or ‘leisure plus’ scheme is reintroduced.

This follows a number of requests from councillors to investigate the issue and the scrutiny panel will meet for the first time on Tuesday (March 8) to agree a draft scoping framework.

The framework explains what should not form part of the panel’s work such as the golf centre, as it would require a renegotiation of the contract, both the K2 and the Hawth Theatre, as concessions are already available at the leisure centre, while being a Friend of The Hawth already gives access to discounted tickets.

Although it does not give any indication of what facilities a leisure card could be used for, Tilgate Park’s nature centre has been mooted by councillors in the past as one of the possible facilities that could fall under a new discount card scheme.
