Residents in Hanover and Elm Grove are being asked for their views on the area's parking zones since they were first introduced in October last year.

The area was a popular parking spot for commuters before the restrictions were put in place.

Now the council wants to make sure residents and businesses are happy with the parking zones.

Most of Hanover is covered by parking zone V, which has restrictions from 9am to 8pm Monday to Sunday.

Zone S, which covers the top of Elm Grove from Carlyle Street to Freshfield Road, has restrictions from 11am to midday and 6pm to 7pm Monday to Friday including Bank Holidays.

Brighton and Hove City Council said the review is an opportunity for residents in the schemes’ boundaries to have their say on any changes they feel are required to improve how the parking controls operate and specifically, whether the parking schemes are working in terms of the hours/days, if the type of bays provided are suitable and how the different types of permits are working.

If support is shown for potential changes to the parking schemes in the Hanover and Elm Grove area, the council will issue a further consultation with details of proposed changes for consideration.

Cllr Gill Mitchell, chair of the environment, transport and sustainability committee, said: “When we introduced the Zone S and Zone V parking schemes in Hanover and Elm Grove in 2017, we committed to reviewing them to ensure that they were balancing the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

“Through this review, we want residents in the scheme boundaries to give us their views on how the schemes have been working so that we can assess whether further changes need to be made.”

Residents who live within the Zone S and Zone V boundaries should receive a letter and hard copy questionnaire to complete and return.
