Parties have their say on why they would be good for Bognor Regis '“ British National Party

The Observer asked the main parties to explain why they would be good for the town, sixth up, the British National Party.

‘Decisions affecting Bognor Regis – particularly planning – should only be taken by Bognor’s Councillors. Arun District Council should separate its decision making between the east and west of the river.

‘Remote Arun councillors regularly veto our interests (they rejected Asda and funding for two-hour free parking – which we need in Bognor and already pay for in Littlehampton!).

‘The council’s deliberately secretive sub-meetings of its Regeneration board must end.

‘The council is the servant of the people. It should hold more public meetings.

‘We want the £2.7m Butlin’s lease renewal and the £500,000 Sainsbury’s approval fund spent on Bognor’s regeneration, not on remote Arun District Council projects by outsiders.

‘We must end all lavish spending, particularly on wasteful consultants and high salaries for council executives and their expensive plush offices. Also end all politically-correct spending, training and language translation costs!

‘Instead, concentrate on core services for local people, including pensioners.

‘We want zero tolerance for crime in the town centre. We are concerned that the character of Bognor is changing.

‘The Regis Centre should be redeveloped for leisure and business facilities, for all year, weather and ages and for theatre, concerts, bowling, skating, shopping and restaurants – not more flats.

‘Keep the Esplanade and the Visitor Information Centre open and retain the library where it is.

‘We must stimulate business investment to generate new jobs. Presently, thousands leave Bognor, daily, for work.’
