Developer Seawards Properties Ltd is seeking outline planning permission for the scheme from Chichester District Council.

The proposed development would be located to the north east of Park Lane and to the west of East Beach Road on a L-shaped piece of grassland.

The main access point would be within Park Lane, while there would be an additional secondary access point for pedestrian and cyclists also on to Park Lane.

The homes would comprise a mixture of one, one-and-a-half, and two storey buildings, in order to reflect ‘the vibrant and eclectic townscape’ in the local area, the developer said.

Eight of the new homes would be affordable.

The site would feature an ‘ecological buffer’, including open space for residents to enjoy, which would help encourage biodiversity.

Parking spaces for cars and bikes would be provided in line with local policy requirements, the developer said, including electric vehicle charging.

In its Planning, Design and Access Statement, the developer said the site was a ‘in a sustainable location’ and ‘within comfortable walking distance to a range of local facilities and services’.

Noting the ‘significant under supply of housing’ in the area, they said: “The proposed development would make a modest, yet important, contribution to help address the district’s housing needs.”
