RESULT: Chichester votes to leave European Union in referendum

A narrow majority of Chichester voters backed the UK leaving the EU in yesterday's referendum.

The area is the sixth in Sussex to declare this morning, with the majority of voters in Rother, Eastbourne, Crawley, and Hastings also backing the leave campaign.

Lewes is the only area in the county so far to back the remain side.

The turnout in the Chichester district was 77.9 percent, and of those 51 per cent backed leave, compared to 49 per cent voting for remain.
