RESULT: Mid Sussex votes to remain in European Union

The majority of Mid Sussex residents voted to remain in the European Union at yesterday's referendum.

The area is the tenth in Sussex to declare this morning, joining Lewes and Horsham in backing the remain campaign, while Rother, Eastbourne, Crawley, Chichester, Adur, Worthing, and Hastings came out in favour of the leave side.

The turnout in the Mid Sussex district was the second highest in Sussex at 80.8 per cent, and of those 47 per cent backed leave, compared to 53 per cent voting for remain.
