Heathfield MP Greg Barker paid tribute to community-minded people who help keep crime rates low when he met Chief Superintendent Neil Honnor, East Sussex Divisional Commander, to discuss law and order issues.
Greg heard initiatives such as Neighbourhood Watch and Community Speedwatch make East Sussex safer. Community Speedwatch is a group of volunteers set up to help monitor speeds on the roads and report speeders to police.
Greg said: “The number of volunteers involved in this scheme grows monthly with more and more trained people aiding the police in making their communities safer.
“This is showing results with volunteers noting they started to see a drop in the numbers of people speeding. I was also pleased to hear crime rates have come down even lower in Wealden. “
