In July 2013 the council decided it supported expansion at Gatwick ‘in principle’. At the meeting of the full council last Friday December 12, Bill Acraman (Con, Worth Forest) called for a fresh debate.

The council heard there would be a special full council meeting on Monday January 19 to discuss its response to the Airports Commission consultation.

A second runway at Gatwick is one of three options the Commission has shortlisted for airport expansion in the South East. It will make its recommendation to Government in summer 2015.
