Sending ‘love and sincere condolences’ to his loved ones, a council spokesman said: “He was a highly valued and respected member of staff – but more importantly was a friend to so many.

“Dave was a kind and gentle man. He had a huge love for life.

“He accepted everyone he met for who they were and always had a smile to share.

“He will leave a huge hole in so many lives, such was the positive impact he had on all who had the honour to know him.”
