UPDATE: Hastings and Rye MP appointed Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change

Hastings and Rye MP Amber Rudd has been announced as the Government’s new Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change.

She was a minister at the Department for Energy and Climate Change from July 2014 but has been promoted by Prime Minister David Cameron this morning (Monday May 11).

Mrs Rudd increased her majority over Labour in Thursday’s general election, which saw her party gain a shock Commons majority.
