Will Labour keep control of council, or can Tories regain power?

Currently Labour are the largest party at the town hall, but their majority is the slimmest possible, with just one more councillor than the Conservatives.

Residents went to the polls today (Thursday May 5) with 13 seats up for grabs and both Labour and the Tories fielding a full slate on candidates, with the Lib Dems putting forward eight, the Green Party seven, UKIP six, with one independent.

Bewbush, Broadfield North, Broadfield South, Gossops Green, Ifield, Langley Green, Maidenbower, Pound Hill North, Pound Hill South and Worth, Southgate, Three Bridges, Tilgate, and West Green were all contested.

Two current Labour cabinet members Chris Mullins and Peter Smith are contesting their wards, while Labour county councillors Brian Quinn and Brenda Smith, as well as Tory county councillor Bob Lanzer are all looking to be re-elected to Crawley Borough Council.

Results are expected to be announced early tomorrow morning (Friday).
