Charlotte received care from Demelza before her death in 2013, aged 18.
Her dad Tom, from Bexhill, said: “This event is so special to us, and it’s very poignant because Charlotte used to love stroking the dogs along Bexhill seafront.”
The sponsored walk and prize show is a chance to show off your pet’s good looks and talent while raising funds for Demelza’s work supporting seriously ill babies, children and young people from across East Sussex.
Families are invited to take their pooch for a sponsored three mile walk along Bexhill seafront, starting from and returning to the Metropole Lawns next to the De La Warr Pavilion for a fun dog show.
Registration for the walk, at £5 per dog, opens at 11am with pooches and owners setting off at midday. The dog show begins when everyone has finished the walk, at around 1.30pm. Entry for the dog show is £2 per class, payable on the day.
Anyone who pre-registers for the sponsored walk by calling the Demelza fundraising team on 01795 845288 will receive a free bandana for their pet.
Julie Brett, Community Fundraiser at Demelza said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Tom and his wife Vicky for helping me to organise this event – it’s always such a fun day.
“I would also like to thank Love K9 Dog Training from Bexhill for being sponsors because it means that every penny raised on the day can be used for providing care for children with life-limiting and life threatening illnesses.
“We couldn’t support our local families without the help of generous people in the community.”
