This year the port has been ‘exceptionally busy’, handling a variety of new cargoes and accommodating an increasing number of shipments each week, according to a spokesman.

“As a thriving commercial port and a key economic driver, Shoreham Port is committed to maintaining the highest levels of service offered to customers,” he said.

“With a busy rest of the year ahead, Shoreham Port is well equipped to meet and exceed the expectations of their customers and continue to fulfil their role in supporting the local and regional economy.”

One of those promoted was Gary Knight, who started as a dockworker 16 years ago, before moving up the ranks.

“I am thrilled to be taking my first steps into management and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to progress my career,” said Gary.
