POST OFFICE CLOSURES REVEALED

All but one of the post offices at risk in the Sussex Express area look set to be closed.

Post offices across the region are to be axed in a hugely unpopular costcutting drive.

The Post Office is refusing to confirm the closures until 10am today (Tuesday) but it is understood all post office branches in the Sussex Express circulation area will close with only one exception.

A further review will be carried out on the Landport Stores post office in Lewes.

MP Norman Baker said: 'This is a terrible day for local communities, not just in my constituency but all across the country.

'The Government has slaughtered the post office, we are now going to see a huge number of people disadvantaged by this and there will be huge queues at the few post offices which remain.

'The consultation has been a sham, arbitrary targets have been set down and the Government has just been going through the motions.'
