Post offices:where the axe will fall and more threatened

EVERY single one of the Post Office branches in West Sussex earmarked for closure last November is to be axed, despite massive opposition. Not only that, but another ten in Bognor, Chichester and Littlehampton have now been placed under threat.

There has been widespread fury at the decision and people who had campaigned long and hard against the closures have branded the consultation period as 'a total sham'.

The new post offices proposed for closure in a second wave are: 6 Easebourne Street, Midhurst 30 Sadlers Walk, East Street, Chichester Parklands, 6 The Ridgeway, Chichester Four Seasons Country Store, Rookwood Road, West Wittering Aldwick, 2 Tudor Buildings, Aldwick Street, Bognor Craigweil on Sea, 91 Barrack Lane, Craigweil on Sea, Bognor Hawthorn Road, 53 Hawthorn Road, Bognor South Bersted, 62 Gordon Avenue, Bognor Station Road, 15 Station Road, Bognor The Beach, 6 Norfolk Road, Littlehampton.

Bognor faces losing a third of its branches, with six out of 18 earmarked for closure.

East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton called the first wave closures a disgrace and Mid Sussex MP Nicholas Soames described them as "vacuous, deplorable and disgraceful".
