Postmen deliver aid

Two postmen based at the Uckfield delivery office will be joining a humanitarian aid convoy to Moldova, where they will visit orphanages and refuge centres for needy children.

John Sones, from Uckfield and Adrian Williams, from Isfield, will set off tomorrow (Saturday) on the long trek to Eastern Europe. The aid and funding is raised by the postmen and the vehicles and fuel is kindly sponsored by Royal Mail and Parcelforce.

Over the past eight years the Communication Workers Union Humantarian Aid project has visited such places as Bosnia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova where they have delivered aid directly to those in most need.
