UK POWER Networks said more than 700 customers were affected by a power cut this morning in Lewes.
The company said at 8.26am today (Tuesday July 17) a total of 710 customers experienced an interruption to their power supplies in the High Street area of central Lewes.
This was due to an underground electricity cable fault.
UK Power Networks engineers restored supplies to 258 customers at 8.59am, to 355 at 9.38am and to the final 97 at 9.48am.
A spokesperson for the company said: “We appreciate how difficult it can be to lose power and would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by this incident.”
