Power-cuts '˜due to pylon fire' in Selsey

A power-cut that briefly affected areas around the south of Chichester this afternoon was caused by a pylon fire, fire services have confirmed.

Chichester firefighters were called to the scene near the B2145 at 1.20pm to tackle the fire and reported that the base of the pole was alight, a fire spokesperson said.

Selsey, Hunston, Birdham were temporarily left without power, according to a tweet from Scottish and Southern Electric. The compnay tweeted apologising for the electrical supply issue.

The fire crew sucessfully extinguished the blaze by around 3.30pm, with power restored to all areas affected.
