Praise for Claverham GCSE success

PUPILS and teachers at Claverham Community College in Battle have been praised for their ‘dedication and commitment’ after the school secured its best ever GCSE results last week.

Claverham was one of 15 schools across East Sussex which had its best ever results for five or more A* to C grades, including English and maths.

Across all 27 secondary schools in the county 59 per cent of students gained five or more A* to C grades including English and maths – a four per cent increase on the previous best last year.

Councillor Nick Bennett, East Sussex County Council’s lead member for learning and school effectiveness applauded this year’s success.

He said: “Of course I would like to congratulate everyone whose hard work has contributed to this success.

“Last year we saw some significant improvements across the county and to do better than that this year is especially pleasing.”

He added that once again the results were “a tribute to the dedication and commitment of students and their teachers”.
