The road was closed for some time and the hotel was evacuated. Guests have been relocated at other hotels around Eastbourne.

A Premier Inn spokesperson said, “We can confirm that the fire brigade were called following some damage to an exterior wall at our Eastbourne city centre hotel.

“No one was injured and all guests have been moved to nearby hotels with our team members offering them every possible assistance.

“A thorough investigation will be undertaken, however our current priority is to ensure the welfare of our guests and team members.”
