Presentation night goes just swimmingly

It was a good night for local charities when Milton Keynes Rotary Club handed over £26,000 raised by some 300 swimmers who took part in its annual Swimathon.

Mayor of Milton Keynes, Keith McLean, presented the awards to the winning teams and Councillor Derek Eastman gave out cheques to the charities at a ceremony at the Holiday Inn.

Organiser Bill Blyth said: “We can’t thank enough all the people – charities, friends, families, businesses and Rotarians – who gave so generously of their time and money to make this Swimathon a success. And special thanks go to all the disabled swimmers who did their own Swimathon for us, raising £2,500.”

Mr Blyth was presented with an award to thank him for chairing the Swimathon committee for the last 10 years.
