QUESTION Time presenter David Dimbleby cut the ribbon to officially open the new Kontour Cycles shop in Polegate on Friday.
The veteran BBC anchorman and keen cyclist has been a loyal customer since 1998, three years after the shop first opened in Millfields.
Owner Adam Rogers, 37, moved his growing business just across the road to bigger premises at the former Post Office and Blazes fireplace shop in the High Street.
Polegate residents David and his wife Belinda Giles were special guests among about 100 people at the opening.
He said: “I’ve been a customer for 14 years, buying everything from children’s bikes to my wife’s latest racing bike.
“She has now taken up the sport big time and is doing a 100km night ride in London.
“It’s great to have a really professional business like this that you can rely on. Cycling is the future and we’ve all got to get on our bikes because we can’t afford petrol.
“I’m looking forward to a nice cycle track from Polegate to Firle to join up with the Firle to Lewes one they are currently working on.”
