Sussex builders, craftsmen, architects and designers now have a great opportunity to showcase their work by entering the Sussex Heritage Awards.

This year marks the 17th anniversary of the awards, which are designed to recognise and reward high quality conservation, restoration and good design of newly built projects and encourage the use of traditional skills and craft.

Sussex Heritage Trust is calling for entries from individuals and projects across Sussex.

Chairman, Dr John Godfrey said: “It has never been more relevant in 2015 to design for the future and respect the past and we welcome entries for this year’s Awards by 10 April 2015.

There are eight categories of awards. The winners receive a hand crafted slate plaque to be attached to the building.

The winners of the 2015 Sussex Heritage Trust Awards will be announced on Thursday 9 July 2015 at 12.30pm at Pangean Old Barn, London Road, Pyecombe, and will be presented by the President of Sussex Heritage Trust, The Rt Hon Lord Egremont.

Among the award winners last year was Dr Andrew Bamji for the restoration work at his Norman House home in West Street, Rye.

The Grade II listed building, in the Citadel area of Rye, was constructed between 1790 and 1800.

Restoration work included taking the building back to its original yellow stock brick frontage.

Sussex Heritage Trust is a registered charity established in 1977 to preserve, improve and encourage the appreciation of the architectural and natural landscape of Sussex.
