Price freeze to encourage green living

A price freeze for the second year running will benefit Bognor Regis residents who have their garden waste recycled.

The Green Waste Club run by contractor Verdant for Arun District Council hopes the move will encourage all the 8,000 existing members to sign up for another year of fortnightly collections using their brown wheelie bins. Members who renew their membership online, or use direct debit, will again pay 54.62 for the coming year.

Those who renew by phone will be charged 60.

New members will face a 66.37 charge online or 71.75 by phone.

The scheme is believed to have recycled more than 9,000 tonnes of green waste instead of being sent to landfill since it began in November 2005. Arun leader Cllr Gill Brown said she hoped the club would grow to 10,000 members in the next two years.
