Children were joined on Sedlescombe village green by parents, carers and community members and heard about Palm Sunday. (Sadly, the pony was poorly so he could not join in). Walking back to school, everyone welcomed Jesus (a year 6 actor), just as crowds would have done in Jerusalem with the children lining Brede Lane and Gammons Way waving palm branches and shouting ‘Hosanna Hosanna! Jesus is coming’ and ‘Make way for Jesus!’

At school year 6 children continued to act out the key events of the Easter story with the school community and friends singing Easter songs. They re- enacted the Last Supper, Jesus’ arrest, the trial, Jesus dying on the cross and his rising from the tomb. They also shared bread together, as the disciples and Jesus would have done at the Last Supper.

There were readings by the teachers and Father Kevin, our local Priest from the village church, explained the story.

It was very much enjoyed by all who attended and a super way for the children to remember Easter and what it symbolises.
