Prison turns poor performance round

FORD Prison has risen from second from the bottom of all 134 prisons in England and Wales to becoming the second-best performing.

Governor Fiona Radford said: " When we look at other prisons in our prison service area, which includes all prisons in Kent and Sussex, we are at the top of the league."

All prisons have to achieve a number of key performance targets on an annual basis. The Prison Service has a mechanism to compare different prisons and how they perform against the targets set, how much performance improvement they are achieving and how they compare to prisons of a similar type.
