Prison upbeat about security success

The move has been welcomed by local residents, who have been concerned about security issues in relation to the open prison.

But Ford prison has good reason to celebrate security successes, which include prosecutions on members of the public for bringing contraband items into the prison.

Since the beginning of this year there have been five foiled incidents where members of the public have tried to smuggle items of contraband such as alcohol, illegal drugs and food items into the prison.
