A MEMORIAL tree and plaque will be planted to honour paratrooper Private Daniel Prior of D Company.
Daniel, 27, from Peacehaven, was serving in the Nahr-e-Saraj district in Helmand province, Afghanistan, in March when he stepped on an improvised explosive device.
He died two days after being flown back to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
Adam and Lee Prior, Daniel’s brothers, will turn the soil on Tuesday December 13 at 2pm.
A number of Daniel’s colleagues from D company as well as family and relatives will attend and have been invited to Peacehaven Town Council’s Anzac Room for refreshments afterwards.
The town council recently donated another tree in memory of Chris Ogden, the town’s past mayor.
Both trees, with a flower bed around them, will be sited on Greenwich Way, Peacehaven, opposite the Meridian Centre.
