A Fitbit wrist watch, ticket to watch a Crawley Town’s home match, family ticket to a Sussex County Cricket Club match and four tickets for a family swim at K2 Crawley are up for grabs.

Councillor Chris Mullins, cabinet member for Wellbeing at Crawley Borough Council, said: “A successful bid will mean that we can tackle barriers to physical and sporting activity and encourage more Crawley residents to get fit and healthy.”

The local authority, Freedom Leisure, which runs K2, Crawley Town FC Community Foundation and Sussex Cricket Foundation were in the process of bidding for money from the Community Sports Activation Fund (CSAF).

CSAF, which is provided by Sports England, aims to fund: family-orientated activities with a focus on those aged 14 and above; activities reflecting a broad range of sports; informal opportunities which could lead to regular participation; multi-sport activities which provide with a range of choices and opportunities to suit them; local roles that focus on directly organising and delivering new opportunities for participation.

A council spokesman said: “The survey asks what sport or exercise you have taken part in over the past six months, whether you’re a member of a sports club or gym and what you perceive to be barriers to getting involved in physical activity.

“Lots of people have already responded but we’ve not had as many surveys back from people aged under 16 and over 65.”
