A production of Jane Eyre will take place at Alfriston War Memorial Hall on October 19.
The book by Charlotte Bronte has been adapted for the stage by Connie Stephens.
The story follows Jane, who was adopted by her Uncle, but when he dies, she is raised by her Aunt with cruel indifference and sent away to Lowood School where starvation, frostbite and typhus are part of the daily curriculum. After eight years at Lowood – two as a teacher – she applies for work as a governess and is offered a position at Thornfield Hall, occasional home of the enigmatic Mr Rochester. To her surprise, he quickly appears to take a keen interest in her, expressing a sense of affinity so strong and indisputable that Jane finds herself helplessly compelled.
Tickets are £10. To book visit Much Ado Books, 8 West Street, Alfriston, E. Sussex BN26 5UX or phone Ticketweb on 08444 771 000 (24 hours).
