Fifty family and friends of Will Beckett took part in the Battel Bonfire Boyes 10k run on Sunday to raise funds for three good causes under the banner ‘Out Of The Blue’.

More than 120 people wearing Out Of The Blue t-shirts lined the High Street to cheer the team on.

Will’s wife Katie and his sister Lex organised the Out Of The Blue team.

Lex said: “The atmosphere in Battle was excellent and the race was so well organised and marshalled.

“Through our fundraising website we have raised around £8,000 and the money keeps on coming.”

Will, who lived in Caldbec Hill, took his own life in January after suffering depression.

Following Will’s tragic death, the family has received help and support from Winston’s Wish, a national charity which helps bereaved children and Dragonflies, a local bereavement charity which provided counselling to Will’s two sons.

Both these charities are to benefit from the money raised by Out Of The Blue, along with the Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team, who work to prevent suicides at Beachy Head.

Lex thanked everyone who helped the team reach the impressive total.

She said: “We would like to thank everyone who came to support the runners and sponsor us in aid of the three charities Winston’s Wish, Dragonflies and The Beachy Head Chaplaincy Team.
