Pub charity push pulls in the cash

NEWHAVEN pub regulars donned wild and wacky fancy dress and took to the town's streets on Monday for a sponsored pram and trolley push.

NEWHAVEN pub regulars donned wild and wacky fancy dress and took to the town's streets on Monday for a sponsored pram and trolley push.

Eleven teams of two, who raised cash for their own chosen charity, set off from the Bridge Inn, High Street, at noon for a crawl of town centre pubs before returning to the Ship Hotel. Once all sponsorship cash is collected up to 3,000 is hoped to have been raised by the teams.

The landlady of the Ship, Kay Deakin, organised the event. She said : 'It was absolutely wonderful. Everybody enjoyed it so much we are going to make it an annual event and have a children's race as well next year.'
