Public get insight into site six housing plans

Proposals for hundreds of new homes in North Bersted will be shown in a new exhibition.

Berkeley Homes Ltd is staging the display concerning more than 300 properties destined for site six. The exhibition will also feature the company's proposals for the western section of the Bognor Regis relief road. The event will take place between 4pm and 8pm on January 22 at the community centre off Chalcraft Lane.

The occasion will mark the first time Berkeley has made public its intentions for the 334 dwellings which make up the second and third phase of the company's development of farmland between Chichester Road and North Bersted Street.

It follows the company's submission of a detailed planning application for its first 100 homes to be built on the site.

Arun District Council is set to decide this initial scheme in the next few months. This month's exhibition is the latest to be staged since last summer by the four companies involved with building the 1,350 homes which make up the entire site six development area in North Bersted and Felpham.

As well as Berkeley, Persimmon Homes is putting up 216 homes in North Bersted. The entire 700 dwellings due to be built in Felpham '“ between Westmorland Drive and Hoe Lane '“ will be constructed by Barratt Homes and its sister company, David Wilson Homes.

Some of the planning applications needed for that new estate have also been sent to the district council.

Approval in principle for all the new homes and the relief road was given by the government in November, 2006.
