Public Inquiry into waste plan

THE plan which could spell more waste facilities for beleaguered Pebsham residents will now go to a Public Inquiry due to start in late spring next year.

East Sussex County Council and Brighton and Hove City Council have decided not to make any further changes to the Waste Local Plan, which earmarks Pebsham for a Waste Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility if they cannot be sited on the same land as the proposed incinerator at Mountfield.

During the latest consultation on the plan, over 5,500 objections were received but councillors say no significantly new issues were raised.

For this reason members of both councils have decided that no further changes are necessary and the Public Inquiry should begin as soon as possible.
