Public meeting in South Heighton about lorry movements to the incinerator

A PUBLIC meeting will be held in South Heighton on Wednesday February 22 about a controversial planning application from Veolia to increase lorry movements on certain bank and public holidays, from ten to 35.

The meeting will take place at South Heighton Parish Hall in the Hollow at 7.30pm.

There will be an opportunity to discuss the proposals and to take part in photo opportunities with the local media as a show of opposition to the scheme.

Residents will also be able to sign letters of objection which will be sent to East Sussex County Council.

Organisers have invited Newhaven MP Norman Baker and Lewes District councillor Chris Bowers.

The incinerator in North Quay, Newhaven, began running last year, but has proved unpopular with many residents.
