Sixteen children, chosen for their ability and enthusiasm for art and design, took part in the course.

Rupert Simmons, the council s lead cabinet member for education, said: The intensive nature of the summer school allowed these talented children to develop their ideas in a way that is sometimes difficult within the time constraints of a normal primary school day.

The work of the children, from Annecy, Chyngton, Cradle Hill, Seaford, Denton, Meeching Valley and Southdown primary schools, will be displayed at the Crypt Gallery, Seaford.

The exhibition will be open today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) from 10.30am-5pm, Sunday noon-4pm, and on Tuesday and Wednesday (October 9-10) from 10.30am-5pm.
